Where can I drop off a passenger?

At the Schuster Center, the best place to drop a passenger off is the Second Street entrance. At the Victoria Theatre, passenger drop-off is on the First Street side of the building.

Age Recommendations

What’s the recommended age to see a performance?

Because every show’s recommended age varies, you will find age recommendations on each show’s webpage on this site. We program the Broadway Series for adults and young people age 13 and older. At the minimum, we recommend no one under 6 years old attend our Broadway, National Geographic Live Series, and most Star Attraction performances. Our Family Series performances are recommended for ages 4-10, but really, they’re fun for the whole family! Regardless of age, each person in the theatre must have a ticket for the show they are watching.

Backpacks & Bags

Backpacks and large bags are prohibited in the Schuster Center, Victoria Theatre, Metropolitan Arts Center, and The Loft Theatre. Bags are subject to search. We are stepping up our program of random bag/purse checks for all our venues. Backpacks and bags of a certain size will not be allowed in the theatres and we will have security in place conducting random bag checks at entrances to the theatres for each performance.

Before & After The Show

What time does the theatre open before a show?

The theatre lobby opens one hour before the performance. The house opens for seating 30 minutes before the performance.

Are there pre-show events?

Many of our performances have pre-show events including Background on Broadway before select Broadway Series performances and workshops with each Family Series performance. Check the show’s listing on this website for specific pre-show information.

What can we do after the show?

Your night doesn’t have to end after the final curtain — there are several downtown options for music and drinks following a performance. Click here for more information.


How do I get there?

The Victoria Theatre, Schuster Center, and The Loft Theatre are located in heart of downtown Dayton’s arts district. The Victoria Theatre is located at the corner of First and Main Streets, The Loft Theatre is located next door to the Victoria Theatre, and the Schuster Center is located at the corner of Second and Main Streets, encompassing the entire block of Second Street between Main Street and Ludlow Street. Dress Code

What should I wear? Is there a dress code?

You’ll see everything from t-shirts and jeans to suits and dresses – and everything in between! The theatre can be chilly, so you may want to bring a sweater or jacket. Please be careful about wearing perfumes and colognes when attending the theatre. Many have allergic reactions that impair their enjoyment of the performance.

When do you offer Education & Engagement programs?

We present a full slate of free or low cost programs that are created to offer a wide range of schedule options. To see a program’s schedule, follow the link given in each specific program description or contact us by email for more information. Updates to the calendar are made as programs are added.

What ages are eligible for your Education & Engagement programs?

Our programs are designed to appeal to a wide range of ages. We create programming for children and families, adults, educators and community groups. Many of our programs are open to anyone with an interest in the performing arts, subject to class size limitations. Participants must be in the grade level or age group indicated for each program regardless of previous experience.

How do I sign up for an Education & Engagement program?

To register for programs, follow the instructions given in each specific program description or contact us by email for more information.

What are the criteria for participating in an Education & Engagement program?

We welcome people of all backgrounds to our programs. However, some programs are intended for a particular age group. Most of our programs do not require any previous performing arts experience, just an interest in learning more about the performing arts. For the week long camps, students must be able to attend all sessions and will be accepted based on availability.

How much does it cost to participate in an Education & Engagement program?

Thanks to the generosity of our funders, many of our programs are FREE to participants. Currently, Discovery Series, the Broadway camps and intensives, and ImPACt programs require an admission. For programs that require an admission, please visit Ticket Center Stage. A limited number of partial and full scholarships and busing opportunities are available for the Discovery Series for schools with financial concerns.

Where do the Education & Engagement programs take place?

Unless otherwise indicated, programs take place at either the Victoria Theatre or the Schuster Center. Click here for directions. We are accessible via public transportation, and there are several pay lots in the area. We do not offer parking validation. Parking is available in The Arts Garage and you can also visit the Downtown Dayton Partnership’s parking page for a complete list of downtown parking options.

Who teaches the Education & Engagement programs?

Teaching Artists with expertise in their art form and teaching experience lead our programs. Many of our Teaching Artists work in the Dayton area as professional actors, musicians, performers and college professors. When available, we also work with company members from national tours to teach workshops.

How do I find out if I’m in as Education & Engagement program?

Many of our programs are on a first-come, first-served basis. Once the registration form is received and processed, participants who are accepted into a program will receive a confirmation email or letter with more details and reminders about the program. If the program is already fully enrolled, participants will be notified and added to the waiting list. Background on Broadway and Visual Voices do not require registration.

What if I need special accommodations?

We welcome individuals of all abilities to all our programs and work to create an inclusive atmosphere. If you require any special accommodations, please contact VTA’s Education & Engagement Department at 937-228-7591, ext. 3039 and let us know what accommodations you need. Please provide us with a minimum of two weeks notice for special accommodations or materials. Every effort will be made to accommodate a participant’s individual needs.

What if there’s inclement weather?

If your school is closed or delayed due to inclement weather on the day of a scheduled performance, please notify us before show time that you will not be attending. You will have the opportunity to attend another performance (pending availability) or to receive a full refund. A decision must be made within 30 days of affected performance to be honored. In the event of a closing or other emergency the day of your scheduled performance, please call 937-228-7591, ext. 3040.


What if someone needs to contact me during a performance?

In the event you should need to be contacted or contact someone attending a performance, you may call 937-225-3503 and speak with security. They will transfer the information to the House Manager, who will deliver the message as soon as possible.


Are firearms permitted in your venues?

Weapons are prohibited in the Victoria Theatre, Schuster Center and Metropolitan Arts Center (The Loft Theatre).

Food & Beverages

Is there somewhere I can have lunch or dinner before a show?

Absolutely! Citilites, located in the Wintergarden of the Schuster Center, is open for dinner 2 1/2 hours before performances in the Schuster Center’s Mead Theatre and some performances in the Victoria Theatre. Will I be able to get a drink? What is served?

Yes, we have performance bars at each venue. We offer Pepsi products and full bar service, including beer, wine and mixed drinks. Additionally, Citilites  in the Schuster Center is open 2 1/2 hours before most performances in the Schuster Center and some performances in the Victoria Theatre. With many performances, you can now take your drink from the lobby bar into the theatre. In addition to being careful about spills, please be considerate of those around you and avoid rattling the ice in your cup or making other noises during the performance.

Group Tickets

Why book a group?

You get the best seats available (before tickets go on sale to the general public!), and often at a discount! Plus, we have several payment options available.

How many people do I need to qualify for group discounts and benefits?

Between 10 and 20, depending on the show.

Which shows are available for groups?

We have group tickets available for most Premier Health Broadway Series shows, as well as Projects Unlimited Star AttractionsMorris Furniture Co. Family Series, and National Geographic Live Series.

What is the discount on group tickets?

Depending on the show, discounts range from 10-20 percent off the regular price. And, processing fees are waived.

When can I buy group tickets?

You can buy them now – even before shows go on sale to the general public.

When do I need to pay for group tickets?

We have payment plans for most titles when tickets are booked at least 30 days in advance of the opening night performance. With orders placed less than 30 days in advance of the opening night performance, payment is due at the time of booking. Order early to take advantage of our payment plan!

What are the payment terms for group tickets?

Order now and pay later! Many group reservations have up to 60 days to make payment. All group reservations must be paid in full 30 days prior to opening night of the production.

What methods of payment do you accept for group tickets?

We accept credit card (MasterCard, Visa, Discover and American Express) or checks (made payable to Victoria Theatre Association).

Are there any additional charges or fees for group tickets?

There is a $1 per order (not ticket) mailing fee. No fee is charged if tickets are picked up from Will Call.

Is catering available for groups?

Make your performance extra special by allowing our Event Services team to cater before or after the show!

How do I book a group?

Just contact Victoria Theatre Association Group Sales Manager Betty Gould at 937- 461-8295 or complete the group sales interest form.

Late Arrival

What if I arrive late?

We’ll get you to your seats as soon as we can without disrupting the performance for other patrons. House management will likely seat you in late comer seating until we can move you to your actual seats.


Where do I park?

The Arts Garage, on the corner of Second and Ludlow Streets, is secure, clean, affordable and open for daily parkers, all Schuster Center performances and most Victoria Theatre performances. Please visit our Directions & Parking page for detailed parking information.

Do you allow photographs to be taken?

Due to a variety of reasons – including show contracts, copyright laws and performer safety – no photographs may be taken inside the theatres during a performance. Some shows (generally concerts) do allow photographs to be taken, and this will be announced in advance. You may take photos in the lobbies or the Wintergarden anytime you are attending the performance. Please don’t hesitate to tag us on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram! If you would like to take photos in the lobbies or Wintergarden for graduation, engagement, etc., please contact our administrative office at 937-228-7591 or  info@victoriatheatre.comDue to the high volume of requests for prom pictures and the number of performances going on, we cannot schedule prom photos in the Schuster Center or Victoria Theatre. 


What about security?

We take your safety seriously! The arts district is one of the safest areas in Dayton. To assure the comfort of our patrons, Schuster Center, Victoria Theatre, and The Loft Theatre security services are provided by off-duty Dayton police officers and private security personnel during every performance, both inside and outside the venues. Our venues, including The Arts Garage, are also actively monitored by security cameras. For your own security in any location, remember to lock your car doors and remove all valuables from your car when parking. In case of an emergency in the theatre, our ushers and House Managers are trained to help you quickly exit the facility.

Backpacks, large bags, weapons, and smoking are prohibited in the Schuster Center, Victoria Theatre, Metropolitan Arts Center, and The Loft Theatre.


Can I smoke in your venues?

Smoking is prohibited in the Victoria Theatre, Schuster Center, PNC Arts Annex, Metropolitan Arts Center (The Loft Theatre), and The Arts Garage. This includes any type of electronic cigarette. You must be at least 20 feet from an entrance to smoke.


How do I pick up my tickets?

If you purchased tickets in advance, you may have already received your tickets in the mail. If you purchased your tickets within a week of the performance, you will pick up your tickets at the venue’s Box Office Will Call window. For specific ticket information, please contact Ticket Center Stage at 937-228-3630 or 888-228-3630. Ticket Center Stage Box Office and phone hours are 10 a.m.-6 p.m., Monday-Friday and two hours prior to every performance.

Are my tickets tax-deductible?

Although we are a 501(c)(3) organization, according to IRS regulations, buying tickets is not tax-deductible. Ticket sale revenue only covers a portion of Victoria Theatre Association’s annual budget to provide quality entertainment, education and engagement programs for all ages, and operate three performance venues and The Arts Garage. We rely on donations from individuals as well as corporate, foundation, and government support for the balance. Donations to our Annual Fund are tax deductible.

Weather Cancellations

What if a performance is cancelled due to weather?

If the cast and crew are already at the theatre, performances will go on as scheduled except in the event of a Level 3 Snow Emergency for the City of Dayton. If the cast and/or crew cannot make it here due to weather or other emergencies, performances may be cancelled. If a performance is cancelled due to weather, refunds may be provided at the discretion of the artist/producers. We will post information on our websites, on social media, and also attempt to contact ticket holders via email and/or automated phone call. If there is a Level 1 or Level 2 Snow Emergency and you opt not to attend, contact the box office BEFORE your scheduled performance. All standard exchange policies apply. If you have questions about those policies or would like to see what your options are, please contact the Ticket Center Stage box office at 937-228-3630.
