Teaching Artists

Victoria Theatre Association’s Education & Engagement Department is seeking professional Teaching Artists in a variety of disciplines including visual arts, theatre, dance, and music for contracted services in several successful community education and engagement programs including:

  • Speak Up – Speak Out Anti-Bullying Workshops: The Speak Up – Speak Out interactive workshops are designed to give young people the confidence to stand up to bullying in their lives. We understand that bullying takes place in many environments- not just school. Accordingly, the goal of these workshops is to give youth effective tools they can incorporate into their lives no matter where they encounter bullying. Speak Up – Speak Out is part of an on-going intervention program at the Montgomery County Juvenile Court.
  • Art F.O.R.C.E.™: Our Art F.O.R.C.E.™ program works to reduce the stresses of military families by focusing on Family, Oasis, Relationships, Creativity, and Empowerment. By using well-researched and documented meditative art therapy techniques to address the stresses encountered by military families, Art F.O.R.C.E.™ leads to improved social interaction, the creation of coping mechanisms that can be utilized in daily life, unique creative outlets, and opportunities to focus on oasis. We are seeking visual artists with experience working with clinical and community-based mental health programs.
  • Broadway Intensives and Summer Camps: Victoria Theatre Association’s summer camp is a performance-based camp for daring students who want to expand their experience and training in musical theatre. Developed for all experience levels, this camp, from 9 a.m.-3:30 p.m., focuses on grades 7-12. Participants work with local professionals and cast members from the Broadway tour of CIRCUS 1903 in classes full of techniques to improve their acting, music, dancing (and circus) skills! Victoria Theatre Association’s after-school intensives are performance-based for students who want to expand their experience and training in musical theatre. Developed for high school students at all experience levels, these camps are held from 4-8:30 p.m. Participants work with local professionals and cast members from a Broadway tour in classes working on acting, music, and dancing skills. The two after-school intensives will occur with the Broadway tours of KINKY BOOTS and MOTOWN THE MUSICAL.
  • Performing Arts Classes in Theatre, Musical Theatre, Dance and Creativity: Victoria Theatre Association is creating more opportunities for young and old alike to experience creativity in their lives. A series of new classes and camps are being created featuring theatre, musical theatre, dance, visual art, and music.

The training and time commitment for each program varies. Contracted teaching artists will be asked to go through an FBI/BCI background check. To apply for a Teaching Artist position, please submit your resume/CV and a cover letter, including two references, to Gary Minyard, Vice President – Education & Engagement, at gary.minyard@victoriatheatre.com.
