Military families make incredible sacrifices to protect our nation. Spouses and children of military men and women often live in a state of transition that most civilians do not experience nor understand. As military families find ways to cope with the cycle of pre-deployment, deployment, reintegration, and relocation, stress is a consequence. This stress causes many spouses and children to struggle with their social, physical, and emotional well-being. Using well-researched and documented meditative art therapy techniques, Victoria Theatre Association has developed a program for military spouses and their families that enables thoughtful and personal reflection on the stresses they encounter.
Participants will be led through a variety of professional creative activities all leading toward the creation of their own works of art.
“I have thoroughly enjoyed both of the Art F.O.R.C.E.™ events I’ve attended! These art sessions…have given me an opportunity to unwind and make some time for myself! Coloring (the mandalas) instantly takes me back to being a young girl without a care in the world…It’s a wonderful feeling! I also enjoy the free-writing and meeting fellow military spouses! I leave with a renewed outlook on life – feeling calms and energized – and looking forward to the next event!!” – Anna McWilliams, WPAFB spouse
